I don't know about you but all that apocalypse surviving got me hungry for some grooves. Luckily, this podcast is full of them. One of the best parts about the electronic music I grew up on (thinking mostly of trance) was the long build with a crazy goose bump inducing climax. Of course the reason that drop is so good is because there is long build with several tease fake drops along the way. These days however, one can find an over abundance of repetitive drop after drop after drop, think Skrillex and whatever brand of dubstep that is. A surfeit of peaks means there is no peak. It just becomes monotonous. It's too predictable and all begins to sound the same. So, to offer some contrast I have a selection of the opposite, a bunch of tasty deep house grooves. These tracks are four to the floor the whole way through and focus on the groove. When the drop comes, the change can tiny but always amazing. The tracks might need two or three listens before it clicks but if you give it that, I know you will see what I'm talking about. Now, as Komatic would say, "Get inside this one."
In the podcast I refer to a Nicolas Jaar video. Here's the link. Enjoy the grooves and come share your own finds on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/activelistener
Thanks for listening and don't forget to support the artists,
Aaron
