Podcast 16 - STS9 Live

I love electronic music, so this time I've got the first of a four podcast series exploring the different electronic music I've blasted my eardrums with throughout the years. This first one is a focus on STS9. Sound Tribe Sector 9 is a really interesting group. While their sound is decidedly electronic, they are a live band. They're a five man group with a drummer, guitarist, bassist, percussionist and keyboardist. The bassist, Murph, is the one you will hear talking. They also each have their own array of electronic equipment in front of them. You really have to see it live to understand. These were the first guys I saw that truly blended live performance and electronic jams in a way that I could really get into. I have since found many more bands but I will always give credit to STS9 as being first.

All the songs are taken from live shows that I was at. In one of the most brilliant marketing moves ever, they let you download their live shows from their website for the same price as an album. I should note that this is by no means a greatest hits. I put a greatest hits podcast together and it was four and a half hours both cause their songs are long and there are also so many good ones. I have taken that mix down to one hour and tried to give a good variety instead of just all my favorites. Below is a list of some of the other great tracks I would have liked to include.

Ramone & Emiglio
Someshing
Tooth
Inspire Strikes Back
EHM
GLOgli
Be Nice
Abcees
Aimlessly

Enjoy. Thanks for listening and don't forget to support the artists,

Aaron

Podcast 15 - Dance Rock

Who's ready for some feel good music? You want some music to match the beautiful weather we're having in Austin right now? This is a soundtrack for what you long to be doing as you sit at your desk and stare out the window. I've got a mix of some sweet dance rock. My definition of dance rock is essentially, if the open hihat upbeat eights play a prominent role, it's in. It's a guaranteed pick me up if you're down and an essential mix for when you're already feelin good. So get on your dancing shoes or at least get ready to bob your head a little if you're at the office and enjoy.

Thanks for listening and don't forget to support the artists,
Aaron
